COMMUNITIES: FEATURED PROJECTS
Domus is currently in the process of developing many exciting new projects
that will serve as catalysts for their neighborhoods and examples of
attractive and sustainable development. With substantial support from
both the surrounding communities and local goverments, Domus is aiming
to break ground on each of these projects in the second half of 2010. The
completion of these projects will add over 250 units of affordable housing
to the housing stock of California.

12th Street at D and E Streets
Sacramento, CA
81 affordable units with over 5,000 SF of commercial
space
In 2007, the Sacramento Housing and Redevelopment Agency awarded Domus the opportunity to develop the underutilized sites adjacent to the La Valentina Light Rail Station. Working with David Baker + Partners on the Station Site and YHLA Architects on the North Site, Domus is looking to reactivate the neighborhood with affordable rental units as well as community and retail space. The projects will create a gateway into the downtown area via 12th Street and will also promote smart growth practices due to its adjacency to transit and the mutlitude of services in the area. The project is expected to be complete by late 2012.

5 Scattered Sites throughout the Kings Beach Grid
Kings Beach, North Lake Tahoe, CA
77 units of affordable housing
The Kings Beach Housing Now project will address the urgent need for
affordable workforce housing
in Kings Beach while helping to protect the natural beauty of Lake Tahoe and its surrounding environment.
By supporting higher density infill development, the project will counter the ills associated with sprawl development. The project consists of a scattered sites approach that will demonstrate substantial environmental, social and economic benefits for the region. The housing will promote a healthier environment through green building techniques, storm water management and "smart growth" practices. The project is expected to be complete by late 2012.
